LinkedIn 'Recommendations' are essential to a great LinkedIn profile and extremely powerful. It's natural to be sceptical of someone's credentials when meeting someone for the first time online. This is where 'Recommendations' come in handy.
Have a look at a small selection of testimonials I have on my profile below. It's essential to gather at least 2 - preferably more.
How do I gather LinkedIn 'Recommendations'?
1. The direct approach. Ask your connections (boss, work colleagues etc) face to face if they're happy to give you a LinkedIn recommendation. If they say yes, follow the directions on the next page to actually ask for the recommendation on LinkedIn.
2. The other method is to "pay it forward". Instead of clicking on "Request a Recommendation" you can go ahead and click on "Recommend Alistair " (which is a blue arrow, below) and send him a recommendation first. They would likely return the favour.
